The Midwest Clown Association holds an annual conference, known as the Round-Up, every Fall (as close to the first week of October as hotel availabilities allow). At this convention, several rounds of competition are conducted. Competitions are held in:
1 Make-Up Category, including all types of Clowns:
Classic Whiteface
Comedy Whiteface

Bag Lady
Character
3 Skit Categories:
Alley Skits
Single Person Skits
Group Skits
3 Paradeability Categories:
Jr. Joey

1 Balloon Category
(Entry consists of two balloon sculptures; one single balloon sculpture and one multiple-balloon sculpture. The two sculptures are judged as one entry.)
1 Face Painting Category
(Three design categories are announced at the Spring Meeting and publicized in the 3-Ring News. At the start of the face painting competition, one of those design
categories is pulled from a hat randomly, and participants must paint a
design consistent with that subject matter.)
All-Around Clown
(Clowns who participate in three categories during a Round-Up: Make-up, Single Skit, Single Paradeability; are automatically eligible to receive All-Around Clown. Only one award is given per year, and it goes to the competitor with the most total points from competing in those three categories.)
Results of the Competitions are announced at the Awards Banquet held on Saturday evening of the Convention. With 5 years of competing and sufficient accumulated points, a competitor may become eligible for induction into the MCA Hall of Fame. For more information on this award, see the AWARDS/Hall of Fame page.
